On Thursday, Nov. 6, leadership, faculty and staff from UW-Eau Claire were honored to welcome international guests from Poland to The Sonnentag. More than a tour of the facility, the gathering included discussions on economic development, international business education and the university’s establishment of strong community partnerships.
After a long history of working together on occasional small and large-scale projects and initiatives, UW-Eau Claire and the Eau Claire City-County Health Department have formalized a working partnership through a memorandum of understanding signed over the summer.

Caitlin Mai Chong Lee, a longtime campus equal opportunity specialist and community advocate, will lead the Multicultural Student Services unit that was created with the merger of the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Blugold Beginnings.
The goal of the program is to increase the number of state residents who graduate with a bachelor’s degree — especially first-generation students and those from low- to moderate-income families throughout Wisconsin.
A severe case of homesickness nearly stopped Xuewei Zhang’s Blugold journey before it even began, but with the right set of supports mobilized, her nerves were calmed. She's now beginning her senior year and is on track to graduate next May.

A community gardening project is helping UW-Eau Claire communication sciences and disorders students gain skills while also helping meet the speech and language needs of community members.
A faculty-led international research project in France this summer is helping several Blugolds think about Hmong history and experiences through a wider, more global lens. In France, researchers interviewed Hmong people about their experiences there.
