About the Program

Intro

In fall 2024, the �鶹��Ƶ–Eau Claire launched a pilot program at Stanley Correctional Institution (SCI) as part of the �鶹��Ƶ Coalition for Higher Education in Prison (UW–CHEP). Just one year later, the Higher Learning Commission officially approved SCI as a UW–Eau Claire instructional site—marking an important step in expanding access to higher education across Wisconsin.

The inaugural cohort of 15 students has begun its journey toward the Bachelor of Science in Professional Studies—a flexible, interdisciplinary degree that honors college-level learning already achieved and celebrates each student’s unique path forward. Taught in person by UW–Eau Claire faculty and instructional academic staff, the program fosters authentic connection, curiosity, and a shared commitment to growth.

Nichole is the primary contact for students in the Bachelor of Science in Professional Studies (BSPS) and Transition to Teaching Pathway (SETT) programs at the �鶹��Ƶ–Eau Claire. She supports students through academic advising, transfer consultation, and degree planning while coordinating program communication and resources. As part of the Prison Education Initiative at Stanley Correctional Institution, she helps expand higher education access for students who are incarcerated through program implementation and advising.

Under the direction of the Dean of Graduate Studies, Nancy plans and coordinates the activities of the Office of Graduate Studies, including assistance with Graduate Council, assistantship and fellowship awards, policy and procedure development, recruitment and orientation of graduate students, general graduate studies information and inquiries, and thesis submission. Nancy also supports the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, as well as the UW Prison Education Initiative.
