The Gender & Sexuality Resource Center (GSRC) is dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive campus. Student belonging is at the heart of our mission, and in so doing–and with a focus on intersectionality–we engage the campus community in ways that create room for understanding and empowerment.

Our staff work tirelessly to support our students, and, as a result, UW-Eau Claire has been recognized–locally, regionally, and nationally–as a premier destination for LGBTQIA+ students by Campus Pride, College Choice, Best Colleges, the Trans Policy Clearinghouse and several other organizations charged with assessing the student experience in higher education. We have also been named “Best in State” for several years. Ours is a vibrant, dynamic community committed to critical engagement and creativity, as well as cultural humility and care. 

The GSRC provides resources, support, and programming in collaboration with existing departments, advisory committees, organizations, and offices; we foster an inclusive campus environment through the development and sponsorship of intellectual, personal, and cultural programming.

JumpStart

At UW-Eau Claire, our students represent a kaleidoscopic array of queerness, and we proudly celebrate wherever their identity journey takes them.

Immerse yourself!
Each summer, we bring a cohort of students to San Francisco's Frameline Film Festival. During a two-week, immersive experience, we collectively screen hundreds of films, examine intersectional queerness in one of America's most beautiful cities (with a storied queer past), and attend San Francisco Pride. When we return, our students curate a 5-day queer film festival on campus–Q-Fest!

Plantapalooza!
New students who've elected to participate in the Rainbow Floor Living Learning Community participate in JumpStart, our (FREE!) 3-day early move-in program. Each of the three days is packed with opportunities for incoming students to meet friends, explore resources, acclimate to campus before all students return–and have fun! Plantapalooza is a student favorite: choose your plant, your pot, and your paint!

The Fire Ball
Each year, UW-Eau Claire hosts The Fire Ball, a drag ball extravaganza the likes of which you've never seen. Performers from around the United States come together for two nights of fierce entertainment. The Fire Ball audience–1500 strong over two days–supports Queer students at UW-Eau Claire through academic scholarships, emergency funds, and sponsorship of our Campus Harvest Food Pantry. National Coming Out Day
Though we celebrate our Queer students year round, National Coming Day is special. National Coming Out Day is a day to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and the process of coming out–wherever you are on your journey. We love you just as you are!
